Be more concerned with your character than your reputation because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. – John Wooden

WHAT ARE COACHING ASSESSMENTS?
The assessments administered by Coaches’ Café are internet-based instruments that the client completes in the privacy of their home or office. Most of the specific assessments used at Coaches’ Café are Level B Assessment—standardized tests that are administered, scored, and interpreted by certified consultants. The instruments provide rigorous supporting research as to efficacy and are widely used in the coaching profession. These types of assessments are effective tools for helping a client to increase their self-awareness and to help the client understand how their behaviors and preferences may impact their effectiveness. Assessments can be used effectively with individuals through self-assessment, with teams and as 360-degree tools for leaders.

WHAT DO COACHING ASSESSMENTS DO?
Assessments provide a safe, confidential, reliable, and economical way for people to learn more about how they work, how they show up, and how they interact with others around them. For these reasons, assessments can be an effective starting point for coaching. Individually, each assessment is a powerful developmental tool with a proven track record of helping clients achieve their goals and dreams. When used collectively, a series of assessment may be used within a coach program to provide an integrated baseline for the client, leading to a more rigorous and comprehensive development plan.

HOW WOULD A COACHING ASSESSMENT BENEFIT ME?
Many clients appreciate a quantified baseline for focusing their growth and development actions. As assessments often reveal blind spots in a quantifiable and object manner, a coach can effectively leverage assessments to increase awareness and facilitate improved performance for individuals and teams. Though the scored results are valuable, the most valuable aspects of assessments are through the understanding, reflection, and discussion between coach and client and within a structured team setting. For many clients, assessment can lead to significant personal insights in an accelerated manner. When combined with coaching, many clients are able to move more quickly and effectively towards achieving their goals and dreams.

HOW DO COACHING ASSESSMENTS WORK?
Assessments are offered as a standalone service and can also be built directly into a coaching package. When determined to be an effective step in the coaching process, an appropriate assessment tool is selected, and the instrument completed on the internet at a convenient place and time for the client. A debrief time is scheduled with the client and coach with a certified assessment consultant from within the Coaches’ Café community.

CLIFTONSTRENGTHS ASSESSMENT
Gallup, Inc.
Application: individual assessment, team building, team effectiveness.
Formerly known as StrenthFinders or StrengthsQuest, the CliftonStrengths assessment has been taken by over 23 million people globally since it was first introduced in 2001. Based on the principles of positive psychology, the CliftonStrengths measures your talents – your natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. Then, they are categorized into 34 CliftonStrengths themes.

The CliftonStrengths Assessment focuses on helping individuals discover and develop their unique blend of talents to achieve academic, career, and personal excellence. This is a strengths-based approach to development, based on psychometrically validated measures.

Mastery with strengths progresses through understanding of the instrument and the individual’s unique combination of talents (“Name”). From understanding, the individual begins applying the needed time and focus in shifting talents to effective strengths and begins to effectively blend the appropriate strength to the situation (“Claim”). With continued understanding and application of their unique strengths, the individual will achieve a proficient level of self-mastery (“Aim”).

When observer rat¬ings are compared with the results of an EQ-i 2.0 self-report, a more complete 360-degree profile emerges.
